How Much Does a PS5 Cost in Australia? Current Pricing Guide
The cost of a PS5 in Australia varies depending on the model, retailer, and whether it’s part of a bundle. The Digital Edition, which lacks a disc drive, is priced lower than the Standard Edition, which includes a 4K Blu-ray drive. Prices have stabilized since the console’s launch, but special editions and bundles can affect the final cost.
As of now, the Digital Edition typically starts around $699, while the Standard Edition begins at $799. These prices may fluctuate during sales events or when new models are released. This guide helps Australian buyers understand current pricing, where to buy, and how to get the best deal.
PS5 Models and Their Base Prices
The PS5 Digital Edition is the more affordable option, usually priced from $699. It’s ideal for gamers who buy titles digitally through the PlayStation Store. Without a disc drive, it’s slightly slimmer and quieter than the Standard model. However, you can’t play physical games or 4K Blu-ray movies.
The PS5 Standard Edition includes a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and typically starts at $799. This version suits players who want to use physical discs, trade games, or watch movies. Both models offer identical performance, storage, and features like ray tracing and 120Hz output.
Retailers and Price Comparison
Major Australian retailers like EB Games, JB Hi-Fi, Amazon AU, and The Good Guys consistently stock both PS5 models. Prices are usually aligned, but occasional discounts or in-store promotions can offer savings. JB Hi-Fi often includes free game vouchers with purchase, adding extra value.
Online marketplaces like eBay and Kogan may list PS5s at higher prices, especially during shortages or holiday seasons. Always check seller ratings and return policies when buying from third-party sellers. Authorized resellers provide warranty coverage and genuine products.
- EB Games – frequent pre-order access and loyalty discounts
- JB Hi-Fi – often includes free game vouchers
- Amazon AU – reliable shipping and customer service
- The Good Guys – occasional bundled deals

Bundles and Special Editions
Sony and retailers occasionally release PS5 bundles that include games or accessories. A common bundle pairs the console with titles like Spider-Man: Miles Morales or Horizon Forbidden West. These can offer better value than buying items separately.
Limited editions, such as the PS5 God of War Ragnarök bundle, feature custom console art and matching DualSense controllers. While priced at the standard rate, they include digital games and exclusive content, making them appealing to collectors and fans.
