PS5 Console Price Australia: Where to Buy and What to Expect
The PS5 console price in Australia varies depending on the model, retailer, and availability. The standard edition includes a disc drive, while the Digital Edition is slimmer and more affordable but lacks physical media support. Prices typically range from $700 to $850, with occasional restocks and retailer promotions affecting market rates.
This article covers current pricing trends, differences between models, and tips for buying a genuine PS5. With high demand and limited stock at times, knowing where to look and how to avoid scams is crucial. Understanding what’s included and what accessories to consider helps maximize value.
Standard vs Digital Edition Differences
The main difference between the PS5 Standard and Digital Edition is the presence of a 4K UHD Blu-ray disc drive. The Standard model allows you to play physical games and movies, which some users prefer for collection or resale purposes. The Digital Edition relies entirely on downloads from the PlayStation Store.
Both models share the same internal specs, including the AMD processor, 825GB SSD, and support for ray tracing and 120Hz output. The newer slim versions are slightly smaller and lighter, with interchangeable faceplates for customization. Performance and loading speeds are identical across both.
Retailers and Stock Availability
Major electronics retailers like EB Games, JB Hi-Fi, and Amazon Australia regularly restock PS5 consoles, often through online drops that sell out quickly. Signing up for stock alerts or following official social media accounts can improve your chances of securing a unit. Some stores offer bundle deals that include games or extra controllers.
Third-party sellers on marketplaces may list PS5s at inflated prices, especially during holidays or game launches. Buyers should verify seller ratings and avoid deals that seem too good to be true. Purchasing from authorized retailers ensures warranty coverage and authentic hardware.
